The Ormond Beach Police Department’s Citizen Police Academy is a five-week course designed to give the Ormond Beach community an inside look at the duties of law enforcement officers. Through participation in lectures, demonstrations, tours and hands-on opportunities; citizens will gain val-uable insight into the policies and procedures of the Ormond Beach Police Department.
Community involvement is the most powerful force any law enforcement agency has in the fight against crime. For the community to be effective, it is important that its citizens understand the challenges that the police officers face daily.
Participation in the Ormond Beach CPA program offers citizens the opportunity to explore the differ-ent aspects of law enforcement in a series of week-ly educational sessions. By participating in the CPA program citizens gain relations and a better sense of trust between citizens and the police.
Some of the topics that will be discussed are: Introduction of OBPD, Use of Force, DUI Investigation, Crime Scene Investigations, Patrol Operations, Criminal Operations, K9, and more. Each participant is eligible to do a Ride along with an OBPD officer with a background clearance which is filled out on day one.
