This 3-hour workshop taught by M. Kathleen Warren is a sequel to the Images in Blue cyanotype printing workshop (held on Saturday, November 5th). Please only register for this workshop if you are also registering for the Images in Blue workshop. Using the blue-and-white prints from the previous workshop, students will explore the versatility of cyanotype prints and of the process itself. We will discuss the many creative possibilities then use the prints to apply some of these. Some prints will be bleached, then the entire print toned with natural substances such as coffee or black tea. Students will also get to experiment with selectively toning only parts of the print, including different natural substances used on different areas, and to explore subtle use of watercolor paints on selected areas. We will discuss multiple layer printing, in which a second layer of cyanotype chemical is coated onto a dry cyanotype print and re-exposed and use multiple layers to produce duotone prints. Since the workshop will produce archival prints suitable for display, we will further explore ways to present the dry cyanotype prints. For this workshop, aprons (supplied by the student) are strongly recommended, and gloves will be provided to prevent unintentional staining of skin Tuition (by 10/28): $60 current museum members / $67 future members Tuition (after 10/28): $70 current museum members /$78 future members
