Dr. David Head, Associate Lecturer of History at University of Central Florida will present “Britain’s Loyal Colonies Lost: The American Revolution in Florida.” This illustrated lecture will show how Florida’s colonies, unlike the original 13 colonies in the North, remained loyal to King George III and provided refuge for the loyalists until Spain recaptured East Florida as well as West Florida and cut-off Britain’s dominance by war’s end. It is a fascinating look into the late 18th century history of our state where many are, undoubtedly, unaware of Florida’s role in the birth of the country.
